Dimethyl Heptanol This product is included in the following Perfume Making Kits:  100 Essential Aroma Chemicals Kit Four, Aroma Chemicals Discovery Kit and also in the Blending Kit. Description and usage notes: An excellent material in masculine fragrance as well as for adding brightness to other fragrances. The odour is somewhere between linalool and dihydromyrcenol in character but with more sparkle than either. Good blending agent. Description from Givaudan: “Odor: Lavender, Citrus, Fresh, Floral, Woody. Use: Dimetol has a fresh natural character, which is very useful in citrus, lavender, floral, woody and tobacco compositions. It can be used to great advantage for blending woody spicy accords with cologne notes. Its highly original and sparkling character explains its great success in fragrances designed for men. Highly stable, including in bleach.”  According to Arcadi Boix Camps, writing in 1975, it has “a sweet, fresh, herbaceous, floral odor that smooths the top note of harsh perfumes and has an important use in soaps and detergents, as well, where it reinforces the top note.  The blend of Dimetol, adoxal, lilial, maderol and ambrox is very interesting.”
