Description and usage notes: One of the strongest and most diffusive of the many sandalwood materials. Manufactured by Firmenich as a mixture of two isomers, it gives an immediately recognisable sandalwood note with very little else to distract from it. In the view of this perfumer, it has even higher impact than Javanol. According to Arcadi Boix Camps, writing in 1999, Polysantol “is one of the best available sandalwood chemicals. It is strong with an impressive character possessing important segments of the natural oil, but imparting a fruity nuance that is missing in the same.  He goes on to say that: "Polysantol has been used in many fragrances such as XS for Men, Safari for Men, Samsara and many others ... It is also used with great success in bases such as sandalwood 77125B."
