" Description and usage notes: A really interesting and useful material that can be used to boost the effect of damascenone and any of the damascones, which are heavily restricted by IFRA. It's also useful in apple accords and many other floral and fruity fragrances in addition to anywhere were a saffron note is desired. Description from Givaudan: “Odor: Floral, Rose, Fruity, Apple, Spicy.  Use: Ethyl Safranate is a complex diffusive spicy rose with apple cider and spicy aspects. This rich and versatile ingredient is used in a wide range of fragrance types, from floral through to fruity, particularly apple. Ethyl Safranate gives body and radiance in Fine Fragrance and Toiletries, but is also unexpectedly stable in detergents, thus broadening the possibilities for use.”  Arcadi Boix Camps describes Ethyl Safranate as a 'spicy aromatic', and writing in 1985 and says that it “has a tart, spicy, peppery note and a saffron subnote of remarkable strength. It is a product of extraordinary quality and should be more widely used. ... It is interesting to see how it is used in Arpège and L'Air du Temps, to bring these calssic notes up to date. When it is used in combination with the alpha and beta-damascone, beta-damascenone, Hedione, Jasmolactone ... it lends a unique originality.”   Writing about this material again in 2009 he also recommends its use in with lactones, ""Stemone, hexyl acetate, Labienoxime"" among others.
